Early on in the morning of our third day in the mountaintops we decided to have a fun game of frizbee while waiting to go on our journeys. This game quickly turned interesting because the group decided to give everyone nicknames:
Rusty aka Mr. Clean--> his appearance is strikingly similar to that man, only he's taller, stronger and scarier.
Julie aka mountain lion/ mamacita -->shes a protective mother lion
Katie aka Bones--> (shes really Hannah Montana because shes from Montana and shes blonde AND her middle name is Hannah)-->she likes the TV show, Bones. She also likes animal bones.
Chris aka Frodo-->because his eyes are blue and he is short
Colyer aka regularity/ reggie the veggie--> because he needs to stay regular
Christina aka the Situation/sitch-->because she loves jersey shore. Shes an avid watcher of the hit show. Shes also from there. SIKE!!!!
Hayden aka finger breaker or FB--> During a brutal game of Ninja that quickly grew violent when the Situation viciously attacked Hayden by jabbing her finger in her face. However, Hayden's strong head bones from drinking lots of milk were unfazed and quickly retaliated and crushed the finger.
Jesse aka Tex/ Rodeo-->He is from Texas and always hangs out with his cow friends at the rodeo, especially if they have long horns. He loves the rodeo and goes every weekend.
Monica aka Freud-->She is a future psych major and looks forward to using her knowledge of the brain to analyze everyone and every movement here.
Mari aka Shoutout-->She likes to shoutout at random moments, especially in the middle of the night inquiring about journal colors.
Sarah aka ....-->yet to be determined
Stacy aka Chapeao or Chappy-->She has a REALLY cool hat. Its the new fashion up here.
After the frizbee we went our separate ways to Cactus Springs and Palm Canyon. Down in the blazing valley we trailed along following our leaders. During the Cactus Springs expedition the dry lands proved difficult. But once we reached our destination, we found shade and were able to collect 15 plants. Even though it was extremely sunny and dry, the landscape was stunning. In the Palm Canyon expedition most of the plants in the environment were not ideal for collection, but we still managed to gather some. The journey was long, but still fun as we had some pretty awesome views. Both groups endured the heat and in the end we collected a good number of samples for our first field day.
